James R. Pagett, Jr., is Founder & CEO of Palmstar Companies, LLC, a real estate investment company he founded in 2008. Palmstar provides leasing, management and development services for income producing retail/restaurant, healthcare & office real estate. Palmstar’s portfolio includes freestanding, single & multi-tenant retail, mixed-use properties and urban, ground-floor street-retail located primarily throughout the Southeast region.

Mr. Pagett is a Principal Partner for numerous multi- tenant, income producing commercial properties managed by Palmstar. A former State Director of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Carolinas Region, Mr. Pagett has been a dedicated ICSC volunteer officer for many years. In addition to serving as ICSC Carolinas State Director from 2007-2009, he has served as ICSC’s South Carolina Government Relations Chair and ICSC South Carolina Operations Chair and now in an unofficial capacity, he continues to lobby at the municipal, state and federal government levels on many issues important to the commercial real estate industry. In 2003, Mr. Pagett was the ICSC Carolinas Idea Exchange Program Committee Chairman.

Mr. Pagett’s passion for the shopping center industry runs so deep that in 2016, he authored a novel, “The Raine Forest”, a corporate thriller which features a shopping center developer as the lead character & protagonist and is available as an e-book on Amazon Kindle.

Prior to founding Palmstar, Mr. Pagett began his shopping center career at Edens & Avant (now EDENS) as a retail leasing representative & investment sales broker. Mr. Pagett graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1992 and in 2009, earned an MBA degree from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
